Dear Hevre,

I am so happy to be back with our community. Thank you to our wonderful lay-leaders, Andy, Anita and Lynne, who led services this month. You too can lead services whenever you would like. Please let me know if you would like to learn more skills to that end. I love that we are a participatory community.

I can’t say that my sabbatical was entirely restful as Scott and I attended the funeral and shiva of his father, and I spent the rest of the time furiously planning part two of our wedding. But, I’m beyond grateful to have had the time to focus intently on both of those areas.

Please join Scott and I to celebrate our aufruf and upcoming wedding next weekend. Scott and I are sponsoring a musician for Kabbalat Shabbat services (which will also feature several members of the Little Shul by the River Band!), Saturday morning (creative) services, and a special Havdalah in hopes of celebrating the Shabbat before our (Jewish) wedding weekend with our KHN community. Please let me know if you plan on coming to any or all of those events so that we know we have a minyan and can plan the Havdalah event better. Additional details to follow in next week’s bulletin.

Next weekend on Friday evening is Rosh Chodesh Elul. Beginning on Sunday morning we will meet again daily except for Shabbat at 9:00 am to hear the shofar and a brief teaching or meditation. Details to follow in the e-bulletin. We are looking for volunteers to help lead.

Please join me this evening at 7:00 pm in person or on Zoom as our new rabbinic intern and Shul School Coordinator Josh Nelson (they/them) delivers their Hineini/Jewish journey. If you cannot make it we will also record it on Zoom so that you can hear it another time. We will also be welcoming Brad Lenox, who has been with us on Zoom all year, as a person who has entered the covenant of the Jewish people.

I look forward to beginning our journey as we move into the Days of Awe as we readily approach Elul.

Shabbat shalom,

Rabbi Diana
