Dear Hevre,

I just this moment learned about the fall of Roe V. Wade. I am sad, furious, aghast and not at all surprised. The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) has been preparing for this day and they will be hosting a Jewish community vigil over Zoom at 4:00 pm today. This will be a space to mourn this loss Jewishly, and for holding the collective outrage and the anxiety of what’s next. They will provide a few ways people can get involved moving forward. NCJW’s Scholar-in-Residence Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg and rabbinical students Koach Barch Frazier and Arielle Korman will lead the Jewish Vigil for Abortion Justice.

Here is the Zoom for the NCJW’s community vigil at 4:00 pm today:

I will be sharing more resources, teachings and ways to act in the coming days and weeks. Additionally, NCJW will announce a day of action for the Jewish community to mark together across the country.

Tomorrow evening on KHN Zoom, Saturday, June 25, I will lead a (NCJW-inspired) Havdalah Ritual for Losing Abortion Access at 9:30 pm. If you have your own Havdalah set, please have it nearby. Here is the Zoom link for the Havdalah Ritual;

**Zoom doors will open at 9:20 pm. Make sure that your name is on your Zoom screen or please get on at 9:20 pm and you can identify yourself if you are not sure. We will not be letting people in after 9:30 pm whose name we don’t know or who have an unidentified number.

I look forward to seeing you this evening whether in person OUTSIDE or on Zoom for Shabbat services with LGBTQ Pride themes (which seems more relevant than ever as rights are being taken away.)

The Zoom link for this evening is HERE

I am very excited to see so many of you on Sunday and cannot begin to thank the organizers enough for creating what promises to be a rich community event!

Shabbat shalom,

Rabbi Diana
