Dear Chevre,

I want to wish everybody an early Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Chanukah, as the first evening of the Festival of Lights takes place at the tail end of the Thanksgiving weekend on Sunday the 28th.

I am enormously grateful that Kehilat HaNahar is my community. You inspire me, and I am always learning from and with you. I am honored to be able to witness, celebrate, and mourn with you in beautiful and challenging times in your lives.

I am delighted to share the exciting news that Scott and I are going get married in the presence of our immediate family on the third night of Chanukah. We will be legally married but will have additional celebrations during a warmer time with the shul when we can be outdoors, and also a more formal Jewish wedding with out of town friends and family in the late summer.

The fourth night of Chanukah rabbinic intern Lesley Pearl will be leading an evening with the theme of miracles on Zoom. The eighth night of Chanukah we will gather inside KHN (and on Zoom) to light our menorahs and learn about the history of our beautiful stained-glass windows. The e-bulletin will provide Zoom links and details, and other opportunities in the area to celebrate Chanukah.

Wishing you safe travels if you are traveling. I will be in Cleveland from this Wednesday the 24th until next Wednesday the 1st. Lesley will be on-call in case of pastoral need or an emergency. Her phone number is: 510-541-8818 and her email address is: pearl.lesley.m@gmail.com

Chag Urim Sameach, a freilichen khanike,

Rabbi Diana
