Shabbat Message

Dear KHN congregation,

I have spent time with many of you this past week through Torah study, phone calls, chance encounters and visits. For so many of us, it's difficult not to think nearly all the time about what is happening in Israel and Gaza. I'm grateful to receive the gift of Shabbat during which I turn off the news for a day. I encourage you to take some time off as well, and allow yourself to engage in activities which nourish and heal you.

I look forward to gathering with many of you this evening at 7:00 pm in person and on Zoom:

Kabbalat Shabbat

and tomorrow morning at 10:00 am for Shabbat Zimra in person or on Zoom at:

Zimra Shabbat
(LINK REMOVED FOR SECURITY)

*Please remember to set your clocks back on Sunday and to come to the Peace Pole Project at KHN at 11:15 am!

I will leave you with an excerpt of a poem from Ruth Brin in Harvest: Collected Poems and Prayers:

God, help us now to make this new Shabbat.

After noise, we seek quiet;

After concentration on work and responsibility,

We seek freedom to meditate, to listen to our inward selves.

We open our eyes to the hidden beauties

and the infinite possibilities in the world You are creating;

We break open the gates of the reservoirs

of goodness and kindness in ourselves and in others;

We reach toward one holy perfect moment of Shabbat.

Shabbat shalom, a gutn Shabbos,

Rabbi Diana
